According to local German news outlets, automotive supplier Brose has agreed to sell its e-bike division to Yamaha, pending relevant competition authorities accepting this move.

At the end of 2024 German automotive supplier Brose had announced that its turnover for 2024 would be down by 3 percent year-on-year to € 7.7 billion. This was 7 percent below the original forecast and resulted in a loss of € 53 million for 2024. As a first consequence the corporation had already said it would cut more than 700 jobs at various production sites in Germany. Last Friday employees of its Berlin-based e-bike division called Brose Antriebstechnik were informed by top management that the corporation had agreed to sell of this business unit to competitor Yamaha.
According to local German media outlets that broke the news based on information from Brose employees, the contracts regarding this change of ownership have already been signed and the entire transaction is expected to be completed by mid-2025, pending the green light from relevant competition authorities. For now, Yamaha is said to keep the existing management, the staff and headquarters of Brose Antriebstechnik in Berlin.
