While the Istanbul edition of Eurobike was postponed to next year due to snap Turkish elections, Asiabike made its Indonesian debut in Jakarta. The Jakarta International Expo hosted over 90 leading two-wheeler exhibitors from April 30th to May 4th, 2024.
Gridlock and pollution plague megacities worldwide. Soaring car ownership creates rush-hour nightmares, while fossil-fuel dependence exacerbates air quality woes. Cities like Paris, Barcelona, and London are tackling these issues by bolstering public transport and promoting cycling and light electric vehicles.
Indonesia, particularly Jakarta, is embracing this sustainable mobility shift. The nation’s electric two-wheeler market is projected to surge by 15% annually, reaching 44,000 units by 2030. E-scooters and e-bikes are poised to play a key role, aligning neatly with the bicycle industry’s push for eco-friendly practices. The debut Asiabike Jakarta event showcased these efforts, offering a glimpse into the future of urban mobility.
Held alongside the Periklindo Electric Vehicle Show, Asiabike attendees explored the latest advances in bicycles, e-bike drive systems, battery-charging solutions, and cycling accessories. Yadea, a prominent exhibitor, unveiled three new electric vehicles designed for commuters, featuring their TTFAR graphene batteries and robust carbon steel frames. Recognizing the potential of Indonesia’s electric vehicle market, Yadea seeks to offer green solutions and gain local insights. They were joined by over 90 other two-wheeler companies like Chiba, Enchess, Phylion, and Tannus.
“Future on Wheels,” the show’s theme, underscored its focus on e-mobility, health and lifestyle cycling, and the everyday benefits of electric vehicles. Organized by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, Periklindo, Pt. Dyandra Promosindo, and Jiangsu Bicycle Co Ltd, Asiabike Jakarta positions Indonesia at the forefront of the two-wheeler industry’s evolution.
